kids crafts ornaments
Any ideas of easy Christmas ornaments to make with an 8 and 9 year old?

I am a Nanny and was thinking of doing a Christmas ornament craft with the kids. I’m looking for something cheap, easy and quick because these kids have a low attention span!

Christmas Pine Cone Tree Ornament

You will need:
Pine cones
Glue or Glue Gun
Sequins and/or glitter
String or ribbon
green paint or white paint
small amount of garland any color

If it isn’t too cold, a nature walk would be fun for the children to collect their own pine cones. Take pine cones and dip them in green or white paint. After it is dry let kids put sequins and/or on it to look like ornament on the tree. After they have dried glue on little bits of Garland and tie the string or ribbon to the top of the pine cone. The bottom of the pine cone can be painted brown to look like a bottom of a Christmas tree. Let dry and spray with Hairspray to keep it together and let it dry.

Play Dough Ornaments

2 cups flour
1 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of Vegetable oil
1/3 – 1 cup water

You can make this in a bowl or give each child a large zip lock bag to mix their own… Mix flour and salt together. Add oil. Add water until flour becomes dough like. Cut dough with cookie cutters. Poke a hole in the top of ornament, big enough for a ribbon to fit through. Put on cookie sheet and bake for about an hour (depending on the thickness sometimes more, sometimes less) on 250. Remove from oven and let cool. When cool, paint (for best results use gloss craft paint or metallic). You can add wiggly eyes, glitter, etc. We write our name and year on the back.

halloween crafts ideas
Any ideas for halloween?? ( crafts )?

I work at a day care with 3 year olds and halloween is just around the corner and I want them to make all this scary stuff….I do have some ideas, but I wanted to ask if any of you know some unique ones, if so can you share them with me…thank you in advance

1. Have them make thier own halloween cookies
2. Have a costume party (if it’s not too much trouble for the parents).
3. Hide little bags of candy corn around your house and they have to find the one with the right color. Hand them each a colored card that corresponds with a bag. Then go tell them to find the bag, if they find a bag and it does not match the color on thier card , to put it back and keep looking. The first one to find thier bag gets a huge hersheys kiss(Wallmart).
